ഹെലെൻ കെല്ലർ (2014) എന്റെ ജീവിത കഥ കോഴിക്കോട്: ഓലീവ്. പേജ് 146 വില 120.00 അന്ധയും ബധിരയുമായിരുന്നഒരു പെൺകുട്ടി ഇച്ഛാശക്തിയും ആത്മവിശ്വാസവും കൊണ്ട് ലോകം കീഴടക്കിയകഥയാണ് ഹെലൻ കെല്ലറുടെ 'എന്റെജീവിത കഥ'. 1880 ജൂൺ 27 ന് വടക്കൻഅലബാമയിലെ ടസ്കംബിയയിൽ ആണ്അലന്റെ ജനനം. ഒരു സാധാരണകുടുംബത്തിൽ പിറന്ന ആരോഗ്യമുള്ളഒരു പെൺകുട്ടിയായിരുന്നു ഹെലൻ.പക്ഷെ കുഞ്ഞുന്നാളിൽഅപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായി കടന്നു വന്ന ഒരുനിഗൂഡ രോഗം അവളുടെ കാഴ്ചയുംകേൾവിയും എന്നെന്നേക്കുമായികവർന്നെടുത്തു. കൂടുതൽ കാലംജീവിക്കില്ലെന്ന് ഡോക്ടർമാർ വിധിഎഴുതിയ ഹെലനെ പക്ഷെ ഒരുഅത്ഭുതമായി ലോകത്തിനു മുന്നിൽഅവതരിപ്പിക്കാനായിരുന്നു വിധിയുടെതീരുമാനം. രോഗപീഡയിൽ നിന്നും മുക്തിനേടി കഴിഞ്ഞെങ്കിലും അനുദിനം കാഴ്ചമങ്ങുകയും കേൾവി കുറയുകയും ചെയ്ത ആ ദാരുണ നാളുകളെ ഹെലൻഓർത്തെടുക്കുന്നു. (അദ്ധ്യായം 2). ഇരുട്ട് മൂടിയ, ഭീകര നിശ്ശബ്ദതയുടെ ലോകത്ത് കൈവിരലുകൾ വെളിച്ചമായിമാറുന്ന മഹാത്ഭുതം ഹെലനിൽ സംഭവിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. അന്ധ-ബധിരവിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്കുള്ള സ്കൂളുകൾ അടുത്തെങ്ങും ഇല്ലാതിരുന്നതിനാൽരക്ഷിതാക്കൾ ഏറെ ദു:ഖത്തിലായി. പക്ഷെ തന്റെ സ്ഥിരോത്സാഹം കൊണ്ട്അറിയേണ്ടതും പഠിക്കേണ്ടതുമെല്ലാം ഹെലൻ സ്വന്തമായും മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെസഹായത്തോടെയും പഠിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി. തിരമാലയുടെ സംഗീതവും പൂക്കളുടെവർണ രാജികളുമെല്ലാം അനുഭവിച്ച് ആസ്വദിക്കാൻ ഹെലൻ കഴിവ് നേടി. ഹെലന് ഏഴു വയസ്സ് തികഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ആനി മാൻസ്ഫീൽഡ് സള്ളിവൻഅവളെ പഠിപ്പിക്കാൻ ടീച്ചറായി വന്നു . അതിൽ പിന്നെ ഹെലന്റെ ജീവിതംമറ്റൊന്നായി മാറി. തനിക്കു ചുറ്റുമുള്ള എല്ലാ വസ്തുക്കളെയും തൊട്ടും തലോടിയുംഅനുഭവിച്ചറിഞ്ഞും ഹെലൻ മനസ്സിലാക്കാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു. സാഹിത്യത്തിലുംശാസ്ത്രത്തിലും ആത്മീയതയിലും ഏറെ അറിവുകൾ നേടി. '....ആഹ്ലാദകരമായകാഴ്ചയും ആസ്വാദ്യമായ ഭക്ഷണവുമേകുന്ന സസ്സ്യങ്ങൾ മണ്ണിൽ മുളക്കാൻസൂര്യനും മഴയും എങ്ങിനെ സഹായകമാവുന്നു എന്നും പക്ഷികൾകൂടുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതും പെരുകി വ്യാപിക്കുന്നതും എങ്ങനെയെന്നും അണ്ണാനും മാനുംസിംഹവും മറ്റനേകം ജീവികളും ആഹാരവും പാർപ്പിടവും കണ്ടെത്തുന്നത്എങ്ങിനെയെന്നും….' ഹെലൻ പഠിച്ചു (പേജ് 32 ). ഹെലന്റെ വളർച്ചയുടെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ഒരു ഘട്ടം വായനപരിശീലിക്കലായിരുന്നു. നിരന്തരമായ വായനയിലൂടെ ആരെയുംഅത്ഭുതപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന വിജ്ഞാനം അവൾ നേടിയെടുത്തു. ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്, ഫ്രഞ്ച്, ജർമൻ,ഗ്രീക്ക്, ലാറ്റിനടക്കം ധാരാളം ഭാഷകൾ സ്വായത്തമാക്കുകയും അതിലൂടെ പുതിയലോകം കീഴടക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അക്കാലത്ത് അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നസാഹിത്യകാരന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരും രാഷ്ട്ര നേതാക്കളുമൊക്കെ ഹെലന്റെസുഹൃത്തുക്കളായി. ഇച്ഛാശക്തിയും ആത്മ ധൈര്യവും കൊണ്ട് നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട ലോകത്തെ തിരിച്ചുപിടിക്കാൻ ഹെലൻ കെല്ലർ നടത്തിയ അതി സാഹസികത നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾക്ക്ശേഷവും വായനക്കാരന് ആവേശവും പ്രചോദനവും നൽകുന്നു. ഒപ്പം ഒരുനിഴലായ് കൂടെ നടന്ന് ഒരിക്കലും കാണാത്ത, കേൾക്കാത്ത ഒരു ലോകത്തെഅറിയാനും അനുഭവിക്കാനും പരിശീലിപ്പിച്ച അന്ന സള്ളിവൻ എന്നഅദ്ധ്യാപികയുടെ സമാനതകളില്ലാത്ത ത്യാഗവും സമർപ്പണവും ഓരോവായനക്കാരിലും അതിരറ്റ ബഹുമാനവും അത്ഭുതവും ഉണ്ടാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. 23 ചെറിയ അദ്ധ്യായങ്ങളിലായി ഒരു വലിയ ജീവിതം പറയുന്ന 'എന്റെജീവിത കഥ’ മലയാളത്തിലേക്ക് വിവർത്തനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത് അദ്ധ്യാപികയുംഎഴുത്ത് കാരിയുമായ എം. സാജിതയാണ്.
